My Mission Statement:

I strive to create a healthy, comfortable, and sustainable learning environment for all children. I will Continuously expand my own content knowledge for the betterment of my students' experiences and development so that they can have the best possible learning experience.

My Teaching Philosophy

As a teacher, there are many different core values that one needs to have. You must have set morals and ideals in order to positively impact your students and get them to the level they need to be. Being an educator, you not only provide your students with newfound knowledge but also life skills and experiences that will continue to impact them for the rest of their lives. As a teacher, I strive to create a healthy, comfortable, and sustainable learning environment for all children, I will expand my own knowledge for the betterment of my students’ experiences and development so that they can have the best possible learning experiences. I will use the H.U.M.A.N Developer conceptual framework in order to provide my students with the most positive outlook and experience of education that they can have.

H- The philosopher with whom I find my philosophy most aligned is Abraham Harold Maslow. His creation and teachings on the hierarchy of needs are something that has always stood out to me during my education journey. I believe that in order to learn and be their best selves, students have to be provided with certain things in order to grow. Just as a flower needs soil and water to sprout and grow upward, students need different levels of care in order to academically bloom. I will make sure that my students are safe, happy, and healthy in order for them to learn to the highest ability.

U- I will differentiate my instruction based on the needs of the learners in my classroom to ensure that learning is happening at all times, for all students. Developing relationships with your students early on is an important aspect of teaching so that as an educator you can view where change is made or where it is needed. You have to know and understand your students not only academically but personally as well. Establishing these relationships allows you to look at the bigger picture and be able to differentiate instruction from day to day based on what works best for your students as individuals.

M- Having aspirations and objectives for your future students is a key factor in creating your own teaching philosophy. I aim to create a healthy social-emotional development environment for my students. I want them all to feel safe and comfortable in my classroom to create a positive environment where my students enjoy learning. I want my students to learn things that they will be able to use for the rest of their lives in school and outside of. I want them to learn about themselves and develop personal and behavioral advancements. I also want my students to grow in knowledge, culture, diversity, and more aspects all while enjoying learning. I will create a lifelong love of learning within them. I will implement as many hands-on and creative strategies as I can to make learning fun and memorable. I believe these will create a fun and attention-grabbing lesson for my students to keep them engaged. At this age, hands-on activities also help with motor, sensory, and cognitive development. Another method I will use is incorporating music as frequently as possible into my lessons. This can introduce different genres, cultures, and more aspects of music to my students which positively impacts the way and amount they learn. I will use the H.U.M.A.N developer method in order to keep track of how I am doing with students, how different students learn in different ways, and if they are learning the things they need to based on the zone of proximal development and curriculum. I will make sure that I am providing my students with what they need to excel.

A- In order to assess the learning and growth of my students I will do formative assessments and observe them as they work and have them ask me if they need help or go to them first if they need it. I will do summative assessments to collect data on my students and make decisions driven by this information. I will allow my students to self-assess themselves and differentiate where needed. Another aspect of creating your own teaching philosophy is that you must be open to expanding your knowledge to improve your teaching skills. I will be open to the learning strategies of other teachers in order to expand my own. I will discover what specifically works best for not only each group of students, but each individual student to ensure they are all obtaining the care they require. I will refine my own skills by evaluating if I have met the needs of my students not only in their knowledge/learning aspects but in their personal/emotional aspects as well.

N- Teaching is important to me because I strive for every child to develop a love for learning and a healthy start to their schooling journeys. One goal that is extremely important to me is creating a safe and engaging environment for my children so that they know they always have someone to rely on and trust. I will make a difference in as many lives as I can. My students will have a say on what happens in the classroom and how they learn, because when they feel seen and respected then they will return the favor. I plan on implementing background knowledge, critical thinking skills, and activities based around student interests and learning styles. Elementary school is such a crucial time for a child’s development as they are discovering themselves and the world around them and I will play an important part and positively impact as many students as I can.
